right this may sound daft but i'm royally mythed now
so hopefully someone can help.....
i've got a mk2 granada ghia 2.8i not had it long, when i picked it up thought the fan looked a lil unbalanced while running. so wasn't to bothered when the pulley came free of the shaft of the water pump.
so as you do had the water pump replaced, all fine until about 50-60 miles later when bang! battery light on, followed by coolant light so pop the hood only to find that now the new water pump is destroyed as in part of the casing and the shaft/fan assembly free leaving a big hole where the should be pump should be. not to mention punching a hole in the rad and destroying the fan .![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
from what i can see the shaft and the pump have gone seperate ways, but somehow the casing as ripped in half? (big hole in middle/casing around shaft to pulley completely seperate now)
now the recovery driver who came to collect me claimed he'd never seen anything like it before? so wondering if anyone hear had heard of it or what casued it, or if it could possibly be a fault with the pump as i really dont fancy having the same problem again lol (the new pump was a QH item and i've used there bits in the past with no issue's so just a little bit suprised)
any help would be much appreicated
cheers jacques

was there any screaming from the water pump on 1st replacement?
as there are early and late water pumps for the different types of front covers fitted![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
may be the wrong pump supplied, or just a poorly manufactured pump
