Sierra Window wipers not parking (probelm worsened)
Mk1 Sierra
Whats the cause of the wipers not returning to the start position?
Turn them on and they sweep the screen
Turn the switch off and the wiper stops dead
Needs sorting ASAP any help appreciated
Many thanks
Chris

PassionFord Post Whore!!
As far as I remember there are two power feeds to the motor - one triggers it, and the other keeps it going after you turn off the switch.
If both the wires are getting juice, the motor has developed a fault.

Will be the wiper motor, had this on a Sierra, after trying a couple of stalks and relays. Either replace the motor, or strip it and clean up the pick up contacts and reassemble.

Right update and problem still present:
I have removed the motor and linkage - cleaned all the points and plug refitted and the same is happening.
Changed the stalk and again no improvement.
The wiper adjust switch is working with the motor as the the speed alters
Findings - fast wipe and faster wipe work as they sweep the screen but when the stalk is stopped the wiper stops dead or hesitates and mover slightly downwards.
Intermittent works constantly for an average of 9 sweeps of the screen then stops dead and again try to hesitate to park position but doesn't make it.
As the cowling is off i can here a crackling coming from behind the lower section of dash which i assume is the relay, this isn't clicking it sounds fucked really so if anyone can point me in the right location for the relay.
Much appreciated

The relay is in the fusebox.

Martin for some reason i assumed it was under the dash anyway.................
Right i did a bit of searching and found a little out - checked this and i'm not sure it's supposed to be this shape - my guess is something got hot - after a little more investigation this is where the crackling is coming from when the wipers are on - i'm hoping changing this may sort the problem out

Update the problem seems to have worsened - i have replaced the orange relay and now as soon as you put the ignition on the rear wiper constantly operates and the front has no intermittent still.
Where to go from here - why would the rear wiper constantly operate what would cause that?
The motor is actually operating fine as it seems to work in settings i presume the part that controls speed, intermittent etc is in the wiring and relays?
Anyone any idea's?
