Hi guys, just brought me a s2 rst 1990, when i go down a hill say and take my foot off the throttle she smokes real bad, only then though otherwise shes fine, also 3rd 4th and 5th gear if i put my foot down it seems like she holds back really badly, if anyone can help it will be very much appriciated, hopefully in the future i can return the help as my babies here to stay!

Im also after a lump for her running, not running, tuned or not basically i wanna build an engine but want to keep mine on the road in the meantime?

The smoking as you let off off the throttle sounds like valve stem oil seals mate.

 

Does make sense actually, it does it worse when hot so suppose oil is thinner!

hard to tell but id say more blue then white

 

ive got a complete engine here in bits block head turbo downpipe and inlet manifold if ur intrested mate..

 

if its white smoke could be head gasket . valve oil seals blue smoke on cold start. take oil filler cap off when idling rev up smoke or oil coming out seals, compression test will clarify ,30 mins labour in garage can buy your own compression tester £25 machine mart make sure its got good instructions plugs have to come out to do test.

 

I'd start with a compression test before you start changeling things

 

Sounds strange I had same hint was a slight leak onto d/p from oil return feed pipe

 

Check the one wat valve in the breather pipe is the right way round. My Rs did the same because some numpty plumed in the breather the wrong way. Was pressurising the crank case with a bar of boost

I wanna do a full rebuild on the 1.6 lump from the sump up, with upgraded parts any body recommend some decent componants please!
