Can i use a RS Turbo head on a 1.6 cvh and use carbs i have an early mk5 escort injection engine i want to put in my 1.3 MK3 Escort. What are the differences in heads ? I dont want the injection i want to use carbs.

 

Im sure the early MK5 Escorts used 1.4 CVH engines? The 1.4 and the 1.6 have differnt combustion chambers I think.

 

Its definitely a 1.6 injection engine and not a 1.4

 

You need a mfi head to use carbs without an adapter plate, Efi heads have a cut out on the inlet side for the injectors.

 

So a turbo head with round ports is ok. Any differences in valves cam etc
