Default Central locking problem - Focus Style 1.6 facelift 2008

Hi, first post so very much a newbie. Am looking for some help on this one.

Took my 1.6 2008 facelift Style into the dealership to look at part-ex for upgrade and they said there was a fault with the central locking.

On the second press of the keyfob to lock the car, there is a high pitched squealing/whirring sound. I thought it was normal as it was there when I bought it but apparently not.

Have tested it out at home and pinned it down to the rear driver-side passenger door.

Does anyone know how this can be fixed and what the costs are likely to be? Is this a known fault? I had the car serviced twice by the same dealer (Nov 2010 and Nov 2011) and it was never mentioned. How long does it take for the fault to develop the sound as a symptom? Should the dealer have picked it up?

Sounds like a problem with your dead lock motor. Just whip the doorcard off and see if you an locate it

i seem to get the same noise on my car from the last few days. Ford picked it up on my service today and want £200 + vat to sort it out. Anyone know the exact part? might go to the scrap yard and look for the deadlock motor.

Default Noisy buzz from central locking when double locking

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie latching on to an old post - hopefully this post will move it up to a more visible place in the listings.

I've got the same problem as stevetuk and Mehan; I've had this problem ever since I bought my '58 plate Focus 1.8 TDCi but I didn't realise it was a problem 'til I got it serviced. Like Mehan found, Ford want 200 quid to repair it. What happens is that when I double lock the car (I like to see the indicators flash ) by pressing the remote twice on the second press the central locking makes a really loud buzz. It's coming from both front door locks in my case. Anyone know what causes it and how to cure it?

I'm expecting great things from your residents eggspurts

Cheers, Nick

ive not been on here in a long time but thanks to email alerts i got this. Its the central locking solenoids or motors which need changing. i still havent done mine but the ones that need changing are the ones to make the noise in whichever doors. You will have to change both motors in the door cards. The guy at my dealer said you can leave it for however long you want until it eventually stops working. TBH i just havent had the time to get mine done.

Hey Mehan, got you back on the site if nothing else!

Thanks for the info - just bought a Haynes manual and will get some quotes for the motors. Can't resist a challenge - will update you on progress. Might even post some photo's and try to make it a sticky if it's a common problem.

I ended up paying in the end but because the car was sold to me with the fault and the dealer (M53 Ford no less) had said at the time that the second, different, chirp was to show it had immobilised, I complained to Ford HQ and they paid half. Still cost me 100 to fix. But it cost the dealership more because I haven't been back for services there since. I go to another Ford approved garage which has a totally different attitude.

Its a common fault with the deadlock motor, usually rear doors from what I've seen.

Default Help

my car has just started making this noise. I would like to know what part was needed because my local ford parts department tell me it's the complete door lock mech which is needed.

what you need to is to find out what door is making the noise take the inside panel off locate where the noise is then grease it up and put door panel on shut the door and you'll see the noise has gone
