Unhappy How much to replace Clutch?

Hi Guys

Once again back on here days after sorting out my first problem. Today driving to work got into the car park and something went bang just as I was pulling in. Knew something wasnt right. Spent an hour in work then took it down to the local garage. Its only 3 mins away but what a journey. The bite is right at the top of the clutch and lots of slippage. I stalled it just trying to get it to move out of my space. Then going into second gear the rev's went sky high. Last I then had to get over a steep bridge - its didnt like that - could bearly get over it.

The garage said need a new clutch which will probably be approx £450-500 - this isnt the Ford Dealer. How much would you say one is? Is this a good price? What should I be looking out for?

I'd say it should be like half that. Weird for it to just go bang though.
