cambelt tensioner
Just went to put my cambelt back on, 1.8 zetec silvertop, and found that there is no spring tensioner, I have the tensioner wheel obviously but no spring or pin screwed into the head, question is should it be there?
The cambelt was changed last year at a garage but now I know I'm a little concerned, should I be or not? and if I need it where would i get just the pin and spring?

In the genuine Ford kits they used to have a pin and spring included. Haven't fitted one for years, so not sure if they still do.
Pic shows spring.
Edit - Ford finis 1112531 kit does.

On the silver top, the spring only pulls the tensioner when you're fitting the belt with the centre bolt loose.
If it's tensioned properly without the spring it will be fine.
On engines like the Zetec SE, the tensioner floats against the spring and self tensions.
