I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
ecu's are compatible. must be something else, check coil/connectors, leads, dizzy and/or rotor arm. loose connectors on the coil arent unheard of.

Check for live on coil with key on 12v. If ok..
Get a test light or 5w bulb in a bulb holder with 2 lengths of wire, connect to coil wiring with it disconnected. When cranking, it should flash on/off.
Also, when cranking the fuel pump should cut in, if it doesn't it's possibly the hall sender in the distributor, OR the wiring from coil.

Try disconnecting the distributor and try it again, it sounds as though the coil trigger (green wire) wire is shorted to earth.
If you disconnect the distributor and crank it and it doesn't stay on, fault is in the distributor.
Really need to check the wiring from the coil all the way back to the ignition ECU.
Can you get hold of another distributor to try?
