Ford EEC 1V ECUs
Does anyone out there know of a replacement 130bhp ECU for my 115 bhp ECU in my Westfield? The car in question was running a standard MVH418 crate Zetec 1.8 engine with a modded (by Westfield) Escort harness and a XS4F-12A650-LA "OGRE" ECU. I swapped the cams and throttle body for 2.0L Mondeo items and it's definitely quicker now but the electronic nanny cuts in at marginally over 6000 rpm and kills the fun. The OGRE ECU is deffo internal EDIS and is described on the ATP Products and services guide as "Pats SME-105 Escort manual 1997-2004". I'm assuming from this that the ECU is PATS enabled but the mods to the harness by Westfield have sorted this out. The ignition swich on this car (I'm ashamed to admit this!) is the standard one which came off an Allegro, I think and as such doesn't have a Ford chipped key or transponder.
Thanks in anticipation.

According to the Ford IDS the 'OGRE' ecu does not have PATS. I think the RS1800 'CULT' ecu runs the same hardware as your 'OGRE' ecu (SME-105) but cannot find a photo of a CULT ecu to confirm this. If they do have the same hardware then you could run the code from the 'CULT' ecu (7k rev limit) on a J3 chip. This would be a better match for your modified engine than just upping the rev limit on the 'OGRE' ecu.
Hi Sailorbob
I was hoping you were going to reply to my post as I had seen some of your posts before and knew you were a vital source of information. I'm suprised my ECU and harness isn't running PATS as the ATP website calls it a PATS sme-105 ECU. And the ECU is dated on the same website from 1997-2004 from which date I thought all fords used chipped keys. Funny thing is at the moment there is a guy on Ebay selling a CULT ecu but I thought it might be external EDIS and not PATS so not suitable. If you want to check just go to Ebay and type in Fiesta rs1800 ecu, I think the numbers are legible. One guy on the WSCC Website is running an AQUA ecu which he reckons is an 130hp ecu but he says the electronic nanny kicks in at 6250. I don't think it will be 130hp because mine hits the limiter at say 6100 and it's accelerating like a good 'un. 6500 would be ok but 6800 would be even better to allow over rev.
Anyway cheers for being a top techie

I rather trust the Ford IDS than a website about whether an ecu has PATs or not.
Just looked at that eBay 'CULT' ecu, horrendously expensive, much cheaper to buy a Moates J3 chip adapter and use that
That said, what injectors does your engine run? Are they the same as the RS1800? If not, you'd need to consider swapping them as they need to match what the ecu expects.
The 'AQUA' ecu is an 130 bhp ecu from an Escort.
