I would have thought it to do with how the arch's mount perhaps? The xr4i has the plastic arch's that run along the middle of the wing whereas say a 3 door cosworth bodykit wheel arch's go right to the bottom. Perhaps the holes are pre drilled etc?

4i wing has a series of small square holes in the return flange at the top of the wheel arch. These take the small plastic plugs that the wheel arch trim screws to.
