Default Sierra 2.8 injection revving problem

Rite I've got a problem with a sierra 2.8 injection I bought it as a project as non running the guy said the petrol was off which checking it was as it was yellow and stunk of a duckoil smell on starting it it struggles but eventually starts but runs like a bag of shit but will not rev at all if I work the fuel/air flap by hand and operate the throttle it revs rite through. I've changed the fuel and filter obviously and now the metering head and it's no different. Don't know where to turn now any help appreciated

In what way? It's just strange how it works if I lift the flap manually.

Have you cheched the air intake pipe that goes between the divider head and the throttle body to make sure its not split or something stupid like a rag jammed up there? They also have an air bypass valve that opens on over run which is located on the side of the airfilter housing. If this is stuck open it will cause it to run like crap too. If it runs fine when operated manually it has to be somewhere in those areas...

Quick update not even thought about this for a few weeks but got my mate to have a look today and apparently it's only running on the coldstart injector and the other 6 injectors aren't doing anything until you work the throttle and manually open the fuel/air flap hence why it just cuts out. Any more ideas? Cheers.

sounds like the metering unit has packed up or is fully unadjusted

Got another metering head that apparently came from a running car and it's still the same.
