All the ecu's have what we call a "Tag Code" These are generally four characters long and spell a word.
Take a look at the sticker on the ecu access port and see what it says on there.

It`s interesting that u have 5 different chips for 1.6 16v... so there is 5 ECU`s with different tag names... ?!?

Same basic engine but Ford alter things all the time and a tweak to the ecu is required each time. Ford will even change the ecu if they find a bug in their software. As an aside all new Fords have the same ecu and the software is all that changes, sometimes they update the software during a routine service if theres an update available.

The short answer is I've no idea, without knowing what changes Ford made it's anyones guess.
Maybe Superchips would be helpful if you asked them about the chips compatibilty.

Sorry, again I don't know the differences between your AGED ecu and the DARK ecu to be able to say if they can be swapped.

Just had a quick look on the ATP Electronics site and they list the AGED ecu as 93 on and the DARK ecu as 98 on, looks even less likely for them being compatible.
