92 Sierra 2.0 dohc not starting
Hi, the engines turning, i can smell the unburnt fuel dripping out of the exhaust lol - also fuel pump stirring on ignition, using a timing light i see it has no spark, i replaced the coil but it still wont start- still has no spark.
what is my next port of call ?
thought id post here and consult the haynes at the same time
cheers folks !

Hi martin thanks for the reply, im half way through moving house, my haynes is packed somewhere lol ???
ive never learned much about this engine which is why im here, i forgot to mention it was an instant breakdown as such and not progressive ( if it matters ? )
do you have any idea where abouts the ignition amp is and how to check it ? does this engine have an electronic spark control ? i think not ?
cheers Anthony

Nope it does, in actual fact it has Ford EEC IV management to be specifc (Yours should also be fuel injected?), we have a model which employs the "ESC Hybrid" setup.
I think, but I am not sure the amp may be near the exhaust manifold on your car.

the eec iv sounds like an ecu number for the car rather than just a esc, is it built in to the computer then or a seperate unit - sorry dont know anything about this car, ill look for the amp tmrw hope it is it ?

Sorry, dunno exactly, we call it top slack point encoder or motorcontrol. CPS means Crankhaft position sensor? So you're right I guess.

Abit late but just to finish this thread off it was the ignition amp, good call its not the first time its had one either - not surprising being sat next to the exhaust, im getting back into the habit of running the heaters on full before i stop after hard driving - something i always used to do on the xr4x4 i had.
thanks for the help everyone, happy xmas and happy new year !
