or if i am just being stupid and should be thinking about another engine please let me know. i am new to fords i have been a Nova boy for a while

stick a 2.0 zetec in there. Much easier conversion and cheaper too.

Mondeo 2.0 engine. escort 1.8 zetec sump and oil pick up pipes. 1.8 water pump. Your geatbox and drive shaft will fit so no need to change. Thats the basics of it . there is a thread on here somewhere listing every detail and how to do it in a day

Zetec is the easy one, as so many people have done it, but still requires a bit of messing with mounts and things.

RS2000 is less common, but it's probably the one I'd go for! Bolts up to a CVH box fine, just needs a bit more thought with one of the mounts. Then just use the engine loom from a MK5 RS2000, spliced into the XR3 wiring.

You can buy engine mounts already converted on ebay for about £20!

Go for the zetec alot easier and more of them! Rs2k is a great engine but more expensive and rarer! Zetec with a few mods will be 140ish anyway so your only down 10-20 bhp!
