its the breather for the crankcase. don't block it off unless you intend to make another somewhere else on the block.

The same for me. It's enought to have a breather in the cam cover. For the peace of mind you can ad additional breather in the cam covers or enlarge existing one.

Well spotted! It is Sierra 1.8 CVH sump. They dont fit straight on, needs oil pickup pipe (the CVH one) modifying and the bolt holes on the sump drilling out. Its on now though
People have also started charging a premium on CVH parts now they know about this.

Wouldn't that be the same result with escort zetec aluminium sump? What was your aim? weight?

Front wheel drive Zetec sumps have the bowl at the front and are no good on most Rear wheel drive applications. The CVH sump obviously already comes from a Sierra and has the bowl at the rear where it is supposed to be.
I got a whole CVH engine for £40, broke it for the parts I needed and weighed the rest in so cheap too!

Didn't know sierra has it on the other side but then mondeo one should fit as it is oposite to the escort.
