Default strange smoke from escort coss

i am having a few probs with my big turbo escort when i start the car from cold no smoke same when hot but when driving at around 1800 to 2000 rpm i get a puff of smoke not blue more of a blacky blue same when been coasting down hill and accelerate again its only around these rpms any ideas it has good oil pressure and is not breathing or anything cheers mick

sounds like unburnt fuel to me(when was it last set up?)!if it was stem seals it would be blue m8 and mainly from cold start up!

its running a stage 2 set up re mapped, uprated actuator uprated fuel pump full mongose exhaust system etc

If you get a puff of smoke out the back after accelerating from the over run, coming down a hill, then I'd suggest worn valve guides or stem seals.

the result was a nightmare it had started to melt the piston on no4 so i had it rebuilt while in bits etc all good now done 500 miles running in feels good uses no oil or water and no smoke so good outcome in the end
