Default Transmission help on a engine conversion!

Hi guys i have a 1.8 ford focus mk1, year 2000, and i just fitted a 2.0 ford cougar engine. With my 1.8 focus gearbox... Id also fitted the 1.8 flywheel and clutch.. My problem is the 1.8 flywheel's bolts dont line up on the 2.0 engine?

So is it possible to run a 2.0 flywheel with a 1.8 clutch on a 1.8 gearbox? Or do i need to run a 2.0 flywheel AND clutch in a 1.8 box?

Help please!!

The 1.8 flywheel is bolted on but its leaking engine oil through the two bolts that are missing due to it not lining up right.. Hence a slipping clutch

you will have to fit a flywheel from the cougar engine, the focus will be a dual mass i think and is bigger

But my question is i have a 2.0 cougar engine with a 1.8 box.. Will a 2.0 flywheel and 1.8 clutch with 1.8 gearbox work?

It does not have a DMF, there are only 2 variants of MK1 that did!

I would say at a guess the 2L flywheel with the 1.8 clutch gearbox will be ok but I am not sure, the 2L clutch may just be uprated perhaps?

The boxes are however different the 2L will have the MTX75 box.

Have you tried turning the flywheel round in all six positions? the holes are not equally spaced so you can only put it on in one position.

LEWIS YOU COULD BE RIGHT. im going to be doing the clutch tomorrow so ill probably try that! id love it if the 1.8 clutch and flywheel stayed on as this flywheel is nearly half the weight of the 2.0... would make more sense to run a 1.8 flywheel aswell because it will be a mish-mash of components to make up my transmission... im gunna try lewis' idea tomorrow when i get the box off.. crap weather here in peterborough today!
