mk4 zetec alot of cunfusion
Hi was reading an old thread about a zetec conversion into mk4/orion,was wondering if you could kindly answer a few questions for me
1. I have searched all over the internet and have found that the mondeo engine loom only has around 8 wires to conect to the original loom is that the wiring done as some other threads I have seen people make a seperate fuse box with a couple of relays and fuses and thats what confuses me
2. obviously the mk4 does not have a hego sensor so you wire it to the fuse box with a 10 amp fuse then to the fuel pump,do you use a sectin of zetec exhaust to mount the sensor
3.do early mondeos have an egr and is it easy to blank
4.And if the donour car has PATS system as long as you place the reader and key into the mk4 there should be no issues
this would be a 2.0 silvertop into mfi mk4 thanks for any help as I know this is an old conversion but with so many different opics about it

I used an early mk5 escort loom that had a silver top in it for my conversion in to my mk 4, no pats makes it all a lot easier
no 3 on your list ,not got one on my conversion
no 2 do you mean the lambda as i have one in my exhaust ,do not wire one to the fuel pump (unless you mean another which i dont have)
hope this helps

1.use an escort pre pats loom. 2 switched lives, 1 permanent live, (fuse them) earth and rev counter take off.
Wire in a fuel relay to your ignition switch and your away.
is the easiest way and car will run as it should with no issues.
2. assuming your using the standard zetec downpipe just leave the o2 sensor where it is and leave it plugged into the loom as normal. if using after market manifold then yes you need to have it mounted inside that aswell.
3.The silvertop zetecs do not have egr only, a venting injection system (wont go into details its not needed) this is what goes onto the top of the zetec exhaust manifold, you can buy blanking plugs for it from ford or just put some short short bolts in.
4. yes you need the transponder, ecu and red chip from keys all from the same donor car. not sure if theres any additional feeds required for it as never done one with PATS myself. look up ecu pinout on autodata and you should be able to see what needs what

I used early mk5 loom as the engine loom is seperate the O2 sensor is wired into the loom already. I wired mine to the exsisting engine wiring so was no need for extra fuses
