hi there. dont know if anyone can help?

i have a escort cossie running about 300 bhp and i have destroyed 3rd gear syncro 3 times in the last year. is there any thing that could cause this? i have changed all the bearings etc. i dont drive the car very hard and have only done about 1500 miles in between each problem

 

It seems as if the gearbox is not being rebuild correct. 300bhp should be no problem for a rebuild std. gearbox!

 

You have to much play between your main and intermediateshafts which is eating your syncros.

 

3rd gear always sems to be the weak gear on a mt 75 box. splash the cash for a quaiffe big tooth box. you should pick one up for about a grand and you'll have no more trouble
