clearing ford codes
I am having trouble with my 54 plate focus diesel and have plugged a code reader (memoscan OBD2) in to get the trouble codes. It comes back with trouble code P1000 more driving required.
I dont really want to drive it just in case i do some damage so was wondering if there is any way to clear this and read futher codes ?

P1000 is information only. It is not a problem or fault.
It cannot be cleared other then by driving the car.
The code is set each and every time you disconnect the battery or clear the codes using a scanner.
It only tells you that some internal checks are not completed yet. These checks are required by law and can only be done with the engine running.
So, no problem at all, just use the car and the fault code will disappear.

The problem with the car is at first it was tapping/knocking, then smoking white smoke. Today i sprayed a tin of egr cleaner into it and the smoking stopped but the knocking remains.
I have tried a new cam sensor, another map sensor, checked the belt timing, checked the valve shim clearance, one of which is a bit tight but there is clearance. and had the injectors out to view the spray pattern which was ok but not perfect, they do atomise.
The odd thing is i place my hand over the air inlet on the manifold to restrict the airflow and the knocking goes away.
Any hints appreciated.
