Default Zetec Lowered Compression Help

Right after a rookie mistake on my MK1 1.8 FOcus, I now have a low compression set up (fitted a 2l head from a zetec turbo while installing new cams) so now Im stuck with a perfect running engine...but at a lower compression.
Besides the obvious route of sticking a Turbo on it, which will get expensive what with needing another ECU and setting up ect, what other options do I have?
Looking forward to hearing some idea
Joe

You've only lowered the compression very slightly, around 0.5:1 IIRC.

This has been done before and the engine still made 150bhp with cams and a few other mods. It's really nothing to worry about, you may even be able to run a little more ignition advance on your new cams as it will be slightly less prone to detonation with a lowered compression ratio.

Yeah I have Piper Ultimate Road Cams with the timing advanced 108, 4-1 manifold with full decat system and induction kit, and the rolling road said it was 125bhp which I found shocking til he explained I shouldn't of put the 2l head on it, with my standard 1.8 hes had them running 140bhp with cams alone set up correctly.
So what my best option? Or any option for that matter lol

It really shouldn't rob you of 15bhp but you could always fit a 2.0 block. It's pretty much a straight swap, you just need to use the 1.8's clutch, flywheel and injectors. That should take you to well over 150bhp, maybe 160.

It's funny you should mention that idea because its the same idea I had, but I wasn't sure if I'd need the ECU and injectors, plus I hear the 2l gearbox is very good.
How much you think a 2l block and the other bits I need will add up to money wise?
Thanks

You can get complete second hand 2.0 Zetecs for less than £200 on ebay...about double that for a brand new bottom end.

No, the MAF sensor will sense the increased air volume and tell the ECU to adjust the fuelling to suit. You just need to make sure you use the 1.8's injectors.
