Default 2007 Galaxy 1.8 TDCi

Having a bit of an issue with my Galaxy as per title. I believe the garage that I bought the car from 14 months ago has used the incorrect oil and it has ground the big end shells to filings. I am trying to remove the lower section of the block which is alloy, but it seems to be stuck on to the gearbox shim plate anyone had any thing to do with these as i would like to do it without taking the engine and gearbox apart.
Any help appreciated

If the bearings are in bits then you will most likely need a crank grind , and to do this you will need to remove box to get the flywheel off , so much easier to drop engine and box and split it in my opinion , as had to do it for Ford when we had a similar issue and they sent an engineer out to have a look

I want to get in to the engine to make a judgement to see if I have to sent the crank for a regrind. I just want to know how the alloy sump section comes off as it seems to be fastened behind the crank

It is - you need to take the gearbox and flywheel out to remove the lower part of the crankcase.

I think thats what was advised above?
