Default Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor

Hi all.

I have a 2006 mondeo st tdci and the car has developed a problem.

The ecu has givin a code stating : Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor out of Self-Test Range.

Im guessing a new sensor would fix the problem but im needing help trying to locate the sensor on the engine.

Could anyone give me advice on where i could locate it??

Thanks,

Euan.

hi, on the right hand side of the engine as you look at it from the front, there is a small auxillary drive belt that drives the water pump and power steering, where the top pulley is the temp sensor is behind the pulley in the side of the engine, with a black wire on it and a grey multil plug on the end, only problem is you need a special socket to undo it with, its not the easiest sensor to get at, also it has to be tourqed up correctly, i think its 10nm, any tighter or looser and it can affect your temp gauge reading, it's a job for ford really, hope this helps.
