hi i have a mondeo tdci 2002 its just started having problems with starting, i wont turn over , when i turn the key its makes a sort of whining noise from engine?
a guy looked at it and said put it in third and he moved it back a bit and then it started??? he said it could be the dual mass fly wheel which is a major job
!! but could also be starter motor?? can anyone please advise
thanks

soudns like starter motor not engaging correctly.
dual mass flywheel wont stop the car from starting, it will make a horrendous noise when cranking.
if he put it in gear and rocked it this would have released the starter motor if the pinion was stuck.
start cheaper and fit a new starter motor.
