Side Lighs not working

Side Lighs not working
I found this post in the Escort section of the forums.
I have this problem with my Ford Focus 99 model. However I have replaced the main light switch on the dash as my lights are controled by a switch on the dash and not on a stalk like described above, I am still having the same problem after replacing the light switch.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many Thanks
Check your back lights with the sidelights turned on. Bet they are not on.
If this is the case, then you need to replace the indicator / light stalk as the internals have fried themselves (natural causes). The dashlights are on the same circuit.
Things not working will be:
drivers lights-on door buzzer
rear side lights
numberplate lamp
front sidelights (but headlights will work)
dashlights / heater controls lights / cigarette lighter light
This is a common problem on all 1991 onwards Escorts.
1027172 is the finis number from Ford (they are about £70 though).

As far as I know the focus never suffered the same issue as the escorts, ie dodgy stalks, and as you say they are not on stalks anyway.
Although odd to happen have you checked that both fuses that cover the front/rear tail/side lights are not blown ?
Is this the only lecky problem, item not working ?, it could well be a feed to the switch itself that has vanished, assuming the headlights themselves only work with ignition on these will have another feed.
