Year 2000 Focus - Noise and Vibration when turning left
My Focus is making a grinding/rubbing noise but only when turning left. Any degree of lefthand turn will trigger the problem, which is audible and felt through the passenger side floor and steering wheel. It seems to be coming from the passenger side.
I've had the front nearside wheel bearing replaced with no effect. I crawled under there yesterday and the only suspicious thing was a ridge of grease on the surfaces surrounding the inner CV joint, as if grease had been flung out from a rotating surface. I loosened one end of the boot and pumped some CV grease in but there has been no change or further buildup of grease.
I've had the car suspended above the ground with the engine running and the problem does not occur. There is also no play or give when the tyre is off the ground and manipulated.
I'm stumped - can anyone help?
