Default cracked rocker cover

HI ive just found a tiny crack on the top of my rocker cover on my puma engine. Does any 1 know if its a new rocker cover needed or is there a sealant that will work ? The crack is around 2mm and barely loses any oil. Thanks

the trouble with the putties is that if you do it on the outside it always looks s**t , and you do not want to put it on the inside in case it falls off and gets into places that you dont want it .

Your choices are a replacement , or get it welded , remember you should drill either end of the crack to prevent it continuing then get someone to run a weld along it , then you can clean it up and it will look the bis

The cam cover is plastic so you can't weld it, the phase 1 engines had a metal cover but I think underneath it's still plastic.

I personally would get another cam cover as that is likely to split further in the end which would cause problems!

Plastic cam covers can be welded perfectly, see a bodyshop, quite pricey though, most likely cheaper s/h.

i believe the cam cover is a composite of magnesium/alloy on the 1.7 pumas.... i would check if it can definately be welded.
