Question focus mk1 '99' problem with sidelight when open car

i have a problem with 'rose' my red focus. i want to make my side lights come on when i press the door open on the remote.
i have tested the interior light and found it has a 12v perminant supply and two other wires one is a negative 0v, and the other when the light is on it has 0v when it goes out it goes to 12v. this rules this out for my supply to my headlights.
where can i get the supply from so they come on with the timer same as the interior light when i press the open button on my remote?
