Hi does a mk4 escort van have a tin barcode fastened to the front crossmember or chassis leg. i have recently sold a mk4 escort van unfinished project on ebay and the person who bought it has contacted me saying the van is a ringer because it doesnt have this barcode ive asked around and i was told its only the mk5 onwards vans that have it but the blokes being a pain in the ass wanting his money back but it was sold as seen and its all legal. BLOODY EBAY

As far as I am concerned the barcode is not the chassis no , it was just an easy way to read the car as it progressed down the production line , if the aluminum plate and the chassis no is stamped in the shell I would accept that as a non ringer , also the bar code plate do corrode off so again police would not rely on that in court .

yeah thats what i was told by two lads who are well into fords the barcode is for production line use only. i have never seen the barcode before on my old fords it must have rotted off cheers for info.
