Default one for the MOT testers, testing a track car?

hi guys and gals.

im currently re-building this estate to use on the road so its gonna need mot'ing

its now fitted with some rs2000 front seats with seat belts

pass or fail on the following?

no rear seats or seat belts?

no air bags or air bag light?

in interior door mechs, windows dont go up or down, the door can only be opened my using the outer door mech from the inside?

plastic windows?

anything else i can think of ill post up.

oh and whats the score with driving to the mot station? its got no tax either but will be insured, cant get a tax without an mot, legal or not?

no rear seats or seat belts? Not a problem

no air bags or air bag light? Not a problem

in interior door mechs, windows dont go up or down, the door can only be opened my using the outer door mech from the inside? PROBLEM !

plastic windows? Not a problem

Think the door has to be opened from a normal seated position and be obvious how to do it to anyone , might get a friendly tester but he might get bouncy at having to grapple to get it open , can you not set up a simple pull wire like the original early mini had ?

thanks,

was thinking about taking the front windows out for the test so can be opened easily from by reaching out and opening the outer handle

or fitting a pair of proper doors and fitting them for the test.

the doors have to be easy to open from the INSIDE you cant tell the tester to reach out and open from the outside

some testers can be funny about no rear seats and seatbelts if vosa still have it listed as being a 5 seater but being a tester myself i would let that go

lol
all i would do is a piece of wire attached to were the original handle went and attached to a self tapping screw in the metal of the door thats all thats needed, but if you want proper windows then i guess new doors are your only option

would prob do that as a temp measure.

id ahve to cut and reweld the mechs and frame in as the paint isnt a standard silver and then theres the vinyl/liverie to consider.

cheers for the intel fella

as said already , seats are not an issue and cant be failed if not fitted

as for seat belts you can also have harness fitted for mot as long its type approved or has "E" number

plastic windows dont matter as only the windscreen is a testable item

front doors need to be opened from inside and outside , dosent say you need to have original handles though

I think also for your safety you should have a handle that is easy to use, fook being inside a burning car scrabbling around with trying to open the door!

not a requirement that the windows open , not tested , only the drivers view of the road so must be able to see 2 mirrors

front windows dont need to open for the test

as for the doors, as long as its obvious how you open them for inside the car, it shouldnt be a problem, as the reason for rejectoin is "unable to open from the inside"

just bung a lenght of string from the door latch mechanism that went to the interior handle and lay the string in the door

nothing about checking the belts for approval, but should really have a seat belt installation check if you havent used original seatbelt mounting points

would never loop brake pipes , not not MOT issue but for bleeding issue , it can be a pain to get air from the loop unless you use a pressure bleeder
