Timing belt tension/cam bearings
Whats the proper tension for a YB timing belt..
Ran in my cams tonight and after 20 mins there was a real loud horrible noise had started from the top end at the front... I may have had the belt too tight and ruined the cam bearings???
I disconnected the fan belt so its defo not the water pump or alternator.
I can turn the belt to 45 degrees along the straight part easily as is. Any suggestions???

The cambelt is set too tight, slacken it a bit. You should be able to turn it at least 90 degrees. I ran mine for a while with this whining noise, I slackened it and the noise went,
no harm done.

Using thumb and finger you should be able to twist the belt using easy-moderate pressure 90 degrees mid way along it's length.
The timing won't alter to any amount that's going to make a difference, the pitch(and length) is fixed with the teeth of the belt, unlikely that it would have killed 2 bearings in 20 minutes.
