Steering problems, help!!!!
Hi Guys
Right ware too start
...........
Ok so I have just went and bought myself a 2000 model ford focus 1.8 tdci and a week after driving it some steering problems are annoying me.
When I turn the car a little to the left I hear a screeching noise coming from the inside of the steering wheel and just at that point the steering goes from very tight to loose again and makes a loud knocking noise from the front of the car and throws the whole car left.
Also when I drive upto 60mph or more the whole car shakes because of the steering. I thought this was because the wheels needed balanced but it only shakes like mad when i am pressing down on the accelerator so I am so confused.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Thanks
Michael

It needs a serious looking at, front suspension, wheel bearings, brakes, and bushes etc.
Could be all manner of things, but not one that can be left, screeching could be slipping belt, or something bad like wheel bearings allowing disc to move slightly and contact caliper carrier etc.
