Default mondeo tddi heating issues

hi, i have a problem with my heating, firstly the gauge in the car doesnt register when driving, only when sat still, and then it take ages to move, and secondly when driving the heaters are only ever warm, not hot, even after 30 mins driving, the expansion tank doesnt seem to hold much pressure either, it gets hot, but i can still unscrew cap and no steam etc...it doesnt use any oil or water, but i think mpg is down tho.....any ideas please?

If the temperature goes up when in traffic, then drops off again when moving, 100% thermostat.

No idea i'm afraid, change the easiest one first then see what happens. I've got an inkling that its the later tdcis that have 2 stats, might be wrong though!

As said sounds like thermostat (Stuck Open) to find the convential thermostat simply follow the top radiator hose back to the housing which is on the head. Don't know about the secondary thermostat on the Tddi, I should think it's something independant from the cooling and does something to the fuelling on the diesels?
