Default Cosworth YB "Knock Sensor"

Can anyone explain to me what and where a "Knock Sensor" on a Cosworth YB fits and what it does ?

I'm running a P8 ECU which has one of the Motorsport Development Chips to suit a Standard Compression Ratio, T34, Siemen 55's and a Wasted Spark / Coil Pack set-up.

Many thanks..........

Only 4x4 and Escos have knock sensors, it detects detonation and retards the timing.

RS500 never had one, on 4x4 and Escos it's at the bottom on the right hand side of the block.

Thats not where it goes That bolt goes into a water way! The proper hole is right at the bottom of the block.

as paul has said it goes into that threaded hole under the breather outlet

I once took that other bolt out by mistake when fitting a breather I soon knew my mistake when I got wet!! lol

Many thanks Gents,

So, what's the issue if I don't run a Knock Sensor ?

My Engine is spec's as follows, so wondering if people do without ?
RS500 Block (Small Cores)
Long Studded
4x4 Head
H-Section Con Rods c/w Group A pocketed Pistons
BD14 Inlet & BD10 Exhaust
T34
Collins Actuator
3Bar Map Sensor
Siemen 55lb Injectors
Big Wing & Baffled Sump - High Pressure/Flow Oil Pump
Wasted Spark (Coil Pack)
P8 ECU - Closed Loop - Motorsport Development Evo Chip

I'd like around the 350BHP mark - again not sure if this info helps with you answering the question ?

Cheers everyone
