My saff has been for its first mot since restoring it. It failed on the ABS light, which is constantly on. I have tried a different ABS ecu but this made no difference. The light never goes out.
It also failed on horn not working and washer jets not working, both because i forgot to connect them up
Does anyone know how to diagnose the abs lights???
Also, i got him to check the C0 level and it was 0.14 % at idle. Now he said this was dangerously low. We tried to turn the adjustment screw on the ecu (standard L6) but it made no difference. I gave it 2-3 full turns and nothing changed. The funnny this is, I took the engine out of another car, and the MOT certificate for that one stated exactly the same C0 %. Could this be a knackered ecu?? ( i have removed the cover and the adjustment screw is turning the resistor thingy.

I would suspect the wheel sensors, they usually require cleaning but there are other causes as well.
Doubt it's the ECU assuming you have used this as well as the engine from another car?
It's more likely to be the chip.

if its permanently on, like mine was then its likely the abs ecu is not getting power - i simply run a wire from the back of the clock to the pin on the ecu (think its pin 19 from memory) and it goes on and off as the MOT man wants

I have put a known standard chip in the ecu tonight. Is there a way to 'zero' the mixture screw?? I have heard that you turn it 4 complete turns in one direction and the two full turns in the opposite direction. Does anyone know if this is correct??

Update:
I have tested all four sensors with a multimeter and im getting around 1024ohms on all four. I was told that these readings would suggest the sensors are ok. I have tried another reservoir cap incase it was the level sensor but still no joy. Does anyone know if you can get the abs ecu to output a fault code etc to point me in the direction of the fault??
Thanks

does this sound feasible and would the missing relay cause my symptoms??
yes that sounds quite possible, especially if it's an ex track car, there is another thread on here where someone has disabled the ABS and had a diagram of the wiring he used so the lights still work, I will locate it for you. There are also relay(s) and a 30A fuse behind the passenger dash (Certainly on the post June 1989 cars, can't say for earlier models)

Thanks mate
when you restored it did you have the hubs powder coated or painted?as where the abs sensors bolt on it must be bare metal as even a thin skin of paint or rust or powder coat will cause this.

Hi, yes i did have them powder coated, but I left the bolts in the hubs so that the powder coating wouldnt block the treads.
