haynes manual for mk4 escort tells you to remove starter and jam flywheel bit excessive but this what I just did, be careful not to damage teeth though

fuck removing the starter, more hassle than its worth doing it that way.
stick it in 4th and get someone to jam the brakes on, use a breaker bar and your away.

Impact driver, shock it off. Mine flew off and needed a 3 leg puller to pull the crank wheel off.
Be carefull not to loose the woodruff key

fuck me you lot make things hard don't ya. all you need is a crow bar and a shit wheel.
put a 'steelie' on the passenger side, put the crow bar through the wheel so it locks against the caliper and turn. job jobbed no fuckin about.
