Question poorly xr2i

hello there-i'm a newbie,so apologies if this question has been asked already-
ive got a 1991 xr2i,which works lovely most of the time, but occasionally (and its now happening more and more) after its had a good run somewhere and its nicely warmed up,it just refuses to start,it sounds like the starter motor wont turn over,it'll go with jump leads, but as you can imagine, its extremely embarrassing if it happens in the middle of a petrol station or something.
it starts first turn of the key in a morning, but hates itself when its warm.....any ideas? im at a complete loss
thanks

sounds like the starter is gettin too hot or wots battery is past its best, get your local garage to carry out a drop test on the battery first, most will do it for free as it only takes a sec an if its all ok then id say the starter is cack, common thing on turbo'd cvh's as starter sits right next to downpipe an gets too hot but dunno bout on n/a cvh's but id imagine so

Just check the cable between the batterij to the starter and alternator, this one can be rusted inside. So when hot it gives more resistance and your starter won't turn.
Also check the connectors between the cables
