Default Starting fault

Hi folks got a small problem, i own a MK5 1991 RS2000 {escort} car ran then cut out. Now got plenty of fuel, the imobiliser working i think- its a cobra fob. the engine turns over, can hear the fuel pump priming, took off cover disconnected ht leads{2} put screw driver up lead earth too engine turn over no spark. Any one ideas where too look next or anyone come across fault. Someone said too me could be crank sensor? not sure where that is on engine and there are no manuals that i know of. so if you can help and have some pics. Id apreciate the help.

these cars suffer from starting issues due to the fuse boxes fucking up so worth investigating that area!

Thanks for advise. car recently had a new fuse box fitted. had a good inspection, battery was flat so took it off too charge it and noticed a thin blackand grey wir had broken off at th negative side. Repaired this wire, once battery fully charged th car fired up. Fingers crossed that is the fault. Wire must of bn broken/fraid for a while and when hit a bump must o been enough for it too stop the circuit. car running fine now. so will keep it posted.
