Default Erst starter question?

Hey

My starter is gonna die soon.. and ford just quoted me a price of £310 for a RST starter.
Someone told me that the rst uses a speciel one that pulls 1,44kw instead of the 0,9 the normal ones use?

Or... a more simpel question. If you have changed yours, did you just buy a normal one? or did they say it was speciel?

Ok.

But isn't there any real difference?

When we removed it a long time ago, a asbest? heat shield fell off.. guess that was protecting the starter?
Anyone bumped into such a one?

i hope you are joking at £310
You will be able to get a re-con one for arround £45 (exchange)
The head shield thing is pretty vital if you want it to last any time.. (although it prob be ok an a standard car) they are arround £40 from ford

£135 is STUPIDLY expensive for a starter motor. cant you just go to a motorfactors who sell bosch stuff and buy a re-con one from there.. or go the the scrap yard and pull the starter motor off a 1.8 diesel?

Got one off a normal 1,6 engine.. works just fine and cost me £30..

The heat shield is arriving today

Gonna get a price on a re-con and then see what to do.. although original ford parts are nice I don't wanna pay those wicked prices
