Diff help please
Hi all I brought a Diff of a m8 as a spare for my 4wd escort cosworth.
I thought when you turn the prop on a std diff the driveshafts will turn the opposite way to each other!! Is this ture??

thats what I thought, i know the car he took it off was a old rally car could it be a uprated diff? what is the best way to check?

On a LSD diff turn one shaft and the other will turn in the same direction, but in the opposite direction for a non lsd.

The above is correct, until the plates slip the diff is effective ly locked and both shafts will turn in the same direction

so on a standard cossie diff ,they should turn in the opposite direction until the lsd becomes active in which case they will turn in the same direction ,
