Converting 4wd to Rwd
Hi all i'm just wanting to know what is involved in converting a 4x4 Saph to a rwd other than the obvious gearbox change. I know the 200 blocks are more sought after but every converted car i have seen where the 200 block has been retained seems to have the rwd head. Is it possible to use the 4x4 head also as from what ive been told its a better design.
I also remember a few years ago a mate of mine had a 3 door which he wanted to 4x4 as he had a written off saph. He never did it as according to him the wiring was all totally different so he ended up selling the 4x4 engine & gearbox

The heads do have different shape exit entry holes for the water passages, 4wd heads have a better water flow as well anyway due to the impellor surface area being that bit larger, the later the head the better, but 2wd heads can still be an excellent choice, depending on what you want, they don't need changing for the sake of it.

If you are converting it to 2wd, you keep all your standard wiring, its only the sump that needs changing! The 4x4 engine loom runs a "knock" sensor and lamda sensor, which is better, I think!
Oh yes and the engine mounts !!
