I have a mk4 escort cabriolet on a g plate anyone got an idea of For a new wiring loom fitted as I have major earth probs and mine has been tampered with really badly

 

Or how much it would cost to get one fitted if I can get one from a doner car

 

Prob best to try and sort the one you have, if you did get another, it may turn out as bad as the first. Is it light problems?

 

Its a real mess it's got so many live wires been spliced into the loom for switches for lights amps screens etc but removed all the crap now and I've got bad earths rear fog not working nor are the electric wing mirrors :-(

 

From what I can remmember, if the rear lights work and not the fogs, it will be a feed problem to the fog lamps. The whole light unit is earthed making all the rear lamps work.
May be the feed from the switch, the switches where never very good from new!
Check feed to mirror toggle/switch!

 

Well on the rear fog light switch the orange light doesn't
Come on like it does on the heated screens so it
Could be the switch I guess

 

on the eletric mirrors they earth at drivers side footwell

 

Where abouts under the carpet or behind front speaker

central locking
and main loom

all earth here

 

It that the speaker in drivers side footwell when I'm driving along and close the window when it gets to the top whilst keeping the switch pressed the rev counter drops by about 500-700 rmp doesn't affect the engine revs so I'm assuming this is due to earthing probs

 

yep thats the speaker

 

Do u recon the rev counter thing is a bad earth or another prob

 

not sure to be honest but earths are worth a try
