efi xr3i temprature problem

my gauge doesnt work then when in traffic jam starts to go up

will cleaning out matrix and new thermostat help ,the gauge works under 1/2 and radiator fan does work

any ideas ?

Thermostat stuck open, or opening too soon by the sounds of it, just stick a new one in!

mines the same always reads fuk all till its been at idle for a while, turbo'd it now so not had it started yet lol

check the terminals for a good contact or corrosion, and make sure the dash and engine has a good earth. i would be fitting a new thermostat too just as a precation.
