Default Capri Engine Conversion

Hi chaps, I've got a '77 mk2 Capri and looking for another lump cos I need more power! Never done an engine change so quick few questions:

1. What would you recommend best engine would be to put it, something that won't require any mods just drop in
2. What other running gear would I need to change i.e. I'll obviously have to get the 4 spd gearbox changed to a 5spd I'm thinking from a later mk3, what else..?

Cheers for any help guys

For around 2.5 k u cud buy a sierra cos with yb, and more power is easy to extract, then sell all the spares and you could be nearer your target. Yb lump goes on pinto mounts not sure about xflow though?

Right chaps I've decided before taking the big plunge I'm gonna try to refine my current 1.6. My clutch is slipping so that is making a big difference to performance. These are my plans:

Skim flywheel
New quality clutch
4 branch manifold
Twin Weber Carbs

Clutch aside do you reckon this should make a noticeable difference?

Also in regards to the Weber carbs does it make a huge difference if they're second hand and should I be running 40's or 45's. Also what's best place to look for them..? Ta
