hello people, i have just bought a escort lx



its originally a 1.6 zetec

but i would like to know what engine is in it, here is a picture of the engine



i also have a video from behind the manifold, i think it says 2.0 e but would like to be sure,

its definately an early generation (ie. silvertop with hydraulic lifters) zetec e and that video shows a 2.0 so its probably a 2l from a mondeo which is a popular conversion and easy to do 8)

 

It's obviously Zetec, at a guess it'd be 2.0ltr, not many people choose to tune the 1800 for obvious reasons. I'm guessing it's not Turbo'd by the looks of it?

 

cheers for the info, any idea what sort of ecu this should have on it? i will take the 1 out tomorrow and check the code to see what cc engine it is for,

 

only picked it up sunday, no its not turbo'd yet! lol

 

get yourself on feoc and escortevolution, theres a 'how to' do the 2l mondeo engine conversion and which mondeo ecu's to use. once the engine is in (with a couple of bits off the 1.8 or 1.6) you hook up the mondeo ecu and swap some of the wires about to the correct pins and its like a factory 2l escort with lots of tuning potential!

 

also get youself onto eodc.co.uk so vey knowledgable people on there, to me that looks like the earlier 1.8 zetec - it could be the 130hp 1.8 zetec

 

the early silvertop zetec e came in 1.6 and 1.8 in the escort with efi and later mk6's had the later fuel injection system the name of which escapes me and the mondeo also had the 2l silver top zetec e which is (bar a couple of bits like water pump, sump, oil pick up pipe, etc) a direct swap for the 1.6 and 1.8 zetec e units in escorts.
