Default amal valve question

My 2wd saff is coming on boost very late (full boost at 5k)

People have told me it could be something to do woth the amal valve?

I've had a look at it but tbh I don't know anything about the things

There are three connections to the amal itself but only two of which are connected...could this be the problem?

Thanks in advance

Look closely. There should be the letters "W", "C" and "R".
The "R" is for return and if that is not connected, it doesn't matter, not a problem.
Big hoses from turbo to intercooler and then to the inlet manifold are not split and are attached properly?

If you detach and attach the electrical wires, does it make a clicking sound?

As far as I can see all the hoses are tight and have no splits...gutted lol.was hoping it would be something this simple!

I'm going out in the car in a bit so I'll check the Amal to see if it's connected up rite and I'll check to make sure it's clicking

Thanks for the reply bud

Won't be Amal valve if this was the case you woulden't be able to run that boost at all.

The amal valve should click when ignition is switched on/engine running. If you disconnect/connect the plug with the ignition on it will NOT click, unless you do it while the fuel pump is still priming as it shares the same feed from the fuel pump relay.

They are extremely simple, it's just a solenoid which allows the ECU to have some control over the boost, it does so by PWM when powered it opens the R port and so air is allowed to 'bleed' to atmosphere so you can run higher boost. When fully disconnected (such as boost limit being reached or high ACT'S to name a couple) the valve closes the R port so boost is sent to the actuator which opens due to the boost pressure overcoming the actuator and hence actuating the wastegate so you run less boost.

I would check the actuator condition.
