question about spares for YB rebuild
I am preparing spares for YB rebuild. It will be first rebuild for this engine. 200 block, 2wd head. I measured crankshaft - it is in tolerance for std bearings. Already bought wiseco pistons 91.5mm, ACL bearing kit std, cometic gasket set.
Please, give me advice which thrust washers is better to use, or can I reuse old one? Need I to buy new oil pump? I heard about hp pumps, what is advantages for 400bhp YB? I plan to use new std head bolts and gr.A HG YB0611, your opinion?
Thanks.

If the thrust is within limits with the old existing bearings then I'd use them if they are the older lead/copper type, rather than the newer all metal ones, I have just done so, after 200K miles mine were within new limits.
How good is the old oil pump ?, chances are it will have some wear look particularly on the lobe edges as well as end plate grooving + scoring.
Good chance it will have wear in which case a new one should be sued.
As you know there are some dodgy genuine cosworth ones around, and some that are mentally high pressure, 60 psi is more than adequate, as in a standard pinto oil pump, this again is what I have used, £24 new.
Be aware there are many very bad quality oil pumps around, a lot made in china that are crap some even machined without the hex drive hole!!, still even they are busting apart like the cosworth made ones.
The place I use are rejecting around 50% of the pumps they are sent, each one is inspected and these are what they use on their own supplied and warranted engines.
The HG will be fine at 400bhp, and will cope far better than a metal one if the surfaces of the head or block are not perfect, due to it's fibrous nature, std head bolts will be fine, as would arp so long as depth checked(arp).

Engine was with low mileage, about 100K miles, old thrust is within limits.
Sorry I can't understand how to check how good is the old oil pump, can you explain please? As the engine with low mileage I want to hope that I can reuse it, but very important to exchange it if needs.
Is std YB oil pump same as pinto and =60psi?
Thanks!

If you take the cover off the oil pump, by undoing the 3 10mm bolts you can see how much scoring there is to the under surface of the cover, if very light, this can be skimmed, if not sure about checking clearances etc it would be wise to just pay £24 or so for a new std pinto pump, this is exactly the same except the cover part that feeds the spray bar for the under piston oil cooling, the pinto doesn't use this feature so the cover is just a flat cover affair with no oil output hole.
60 psi is fine, 70/80/90 not needed(on this engine at that level) and use power to produce higher pressures, no advantage in higher hp oil pumps when not needed such as here.

I got my oil pump from the machinists I use, they are the same ones they use on the engines they build, but each pump comes apart upon delivery and is checked, up to 50% are rejected as not good enough.
They build engines, all sorts of engines got a genuine GT40 lump in at the mo for ground up rebuild, then run on one of their engine dynos.
If you want me to get you one just pm me, as they don't do posting out, too busy, mentally busy.
