Default 195 chipped Rs, to turn up the boost ??

Ok my Fiesta Rs was running exceptionally harsh when off boost, tbh it felt like i had a kangroo in the boot, i opted for a chip over the remap as one was at the right money and pretty close to me, well its sorted the fueling straight out and now im at a cross roads, my car has a few mods, and i was wondering should i take the boost up a few notches, only to a steady 12 psi as i hear the higher you take it the more strain goes on your turbo, now im no expert when it comes to this nor do i have any knowledge, as i hear all you do is shorten the actuator a turn at a time and test it ??, the car is set up with boost gauges etc, the only thing i dont have is the beige injectors, so i wont be making the most out of my 195 chip yet. If people could shed some light it will be a big help as ive been searching a few forums now but most people just say give it a go, but at this moment in time i cannot afford to replace the turbo if it does go wrong. thanks in advance Ash

What are the instructions that came with your chip?
That should tell you how much boost you can use.
I doubt if it is more than 14 psi, because that's about the maximum of a 2-bar map sensor.

The chip will run the correct boost for the setup, you cannot simply just up the boost otherwise you will end up with a meltdown! A 195 chip should run around 16PSI anyway, if you still have the standard T2 then this is about the limit for it. You are correct if you run to much boost for the turbo it will shorten the life of it, beige injectors (701's) are the correct injectors for this spec.

If he has 195 chip this should of been done hand in hand as part of the conversion.

Try to find out who originally made the chip and ask them.
What kind of map-sensor does your car have? Make, number of range (2-bar, 2,5 bar)?

ah ok :\ numpty i bought it off told me it worked without as for the map sensor ive no idea. Stu how easy are the 701's to fit for someone who has no experience, i already have an uprated fuel pump fitted, and in theory once i have the 701's will it boost properly, also when the chip is not fitted and im not on boost its really harsh like jumpy ??

It will be especially as you don't even have the correct injectors at the moment, you should check what MAP sensor you have as well. It really depends how good you are at mechanics but there not to hard.

get the right injectors in there for a start.
are you monitoring the Air fuel ratio? you need to take some time to understand the frst efi if your gonna have a go at tuning it- not just turn the boost up as it will end in tears.

Your probably better off sourcing injectors, or going to somewhere which has them and getting them to fit as well as setting the car up all in one go that way you have no need to worry.

You obviously have the price of injectors then whatever the setup will cost on top, this will also identify other issues you may have.

Be wary if buying second hand injectors as well.
