OK im not very good when it comes to cars but I am learning!
I have a Ford Fiesta 1.25 16v Chicane. The problem is when it is sat in neuteral it jumps (like little mis-fires) it sould like a very quiet popping noise from the exaust (which is new).
Its fine when driving. Im not very good when it comes to cars!
Could this be spark plugs or something else?? Any help would be great!
Many Thanks

Havent got a clue when they were changed. I have only had the car a week
I just dont want to spend loads of money on it if I dont have too. Someone else said it could be the HT leads.
Which is it more likely to be? of is it impossible to tell??
Many Thanks

plugs will only set you back Ł10 I would imagine so start there, you could always feel the leads when the car is running, see if you get a shock
might make you jump a bit.
When you change the plugs (easy job) look at the ends, are they a light brown colour, if so the engines in ok condition, any other colour ask on here and we'll tell you what it means.
If it persists after this, change the leads. Really should keep the engine serviced and looked after, no good having a tidy little motor with tasty little mods if it's stuck on the drive.
Let us know how you get on

You can check if the HT leads are leaking by lifting the bonnet when its dark. Start the engine and have a look around the leads. If you see any small blue sparks or hear the spark arc-ing across to earth anywhere, then they either need re routing or replacing. If they are arc-ing dont move them with the engine running

As above and also...
You can spray a fine mist of water over the leads and watch to see if they are tracking to earth, easier to see when its dark. If its an intermittent fault then doing it this way should show the problem.
