Angry clunk when letting off accelerator

my mk2 fiesta has a signnificant clunk when letting off the accelerator at first it was only after hard acceleration but now it is all the time. any ideas ???????????

thanks for the replys. i basicaly know fuck all mechanicaly but just ad a look underneath and thefront tie bar to chassis bushes are virtualy non existent i think. could this be the cause???? also i thought the bushes were rubber but they are like an off white colour foam that is crumbling is this normal

them tie bar bushes wont help but if you open the bonnet put the handbrake on tight then slowly try and pull away you will see the engine lift significantly if a mount has gone

just tried that and there was some movement maybe an inch or so it was the back of the engine and it dropped. and no it is fine over bumps just when letting off accelerator. cheers

i had them go on my old fiesta and it ate through the waterpipe at the front cuz the alternator touched it and took chunks out the back of the filter housing lol

i usually just rock the engine when cold and then the gearbox too and you will see any excesive movement mate!

i would change the gearbox cradle mounts mate ,most likley cause

if 1 of ur engine mounts have gone, tryin looking at ur others, ive had 2 change two of mine in my escort when 1 spaned

front tie bars will be the problem, brothers have had many mk2 fezs everyone same thing, very big clunk on acceleration and letting off exact same as theirs take about 15 mins to change, get them on ebay for a few quid aswell, unless engine movement very excessive I will gurantee those are the problem!
